Senior Coordinator of Veteran Affairs in the Registrar's Office (Finance)

Manages and monitors the university's veteran student services; certifies students for US Department of Veterans Affairs educational benefits; provides program advising for veterans; and assures compliance with federal, state and institutional directives in relation to veteran/dependent educational benefits.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Utilizes in-person and current technology to provide information & guidance to potential students, current students & the university community in the areas of the veteran's educational benefits and eligibility.
2. Prepares & reviews appropriate documentation necessary for certification of veteran's educational benefits.
3. Monitors veteran student's academic progress & course enrollment to ensure VA compliance reporting.
4. Acts as a liaison between veteran students and the appropriate state & federal agencies to resolve issues that arise.
5. Determines eligibility for veterans, spouses and dependents regarding Hazlewood benefits. Reviews and maintains current documentation for TVC compliance.
6. Prepares and submits all Hazlewood compliance reports per TVC guidelines.
7. Assists all students on active duty regarding tuition waivers and benefits.
8. Attends National, Regional, State and UT System meetings and conferences annually to maintain a thorough knowledge of VA policies and procedures.
9. Reviews state required Core Residency Forms & makes residency determination for incoming students.
10. Assists the Registrar with student records and registration functions to accomplish the mission of the office.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor's degree
Minimum Experience:
Five (5) years in a related position in a Registrar's or Financial Aid Office.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
