ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY:
The University of South Florida Office of Multicultural Affairs (OMA) is one of twelve cross-functional areas within the Department of Student Success centered on providing traditional and non-traditional students of the university with a comprehensive and holistic college experience. The office of OMA is comprised of 5 full-time professional staff, 1 graduate assistant, and 15 plus paid student leaders who cross-campus and community collaborations to develop initiatives, programs, and provide leadership, advising, and training pivotal to enhancing student involvement, community, and development. This office services the USF community, students, faculty, and staff by providing opportunities for students to author their own experience through involvement opportunities and engaging educational programs that promote the academic, social, cultural, emotional, and participatory development and success of students while fostering a lifelong affinity to the university. The Office of Multicultural Affairs and OMA Student Programming Board's partnerships and collaborations with campus/(inter)national student organizations, alumni, campus departments, and community constituents enables the office to provide quality advising, educational, and outreach efforts to students within the University community that drive the university's goals to provide safe, inclusive, and vibrant community for learning and to promote the success of students who function as engaged community citizens who can thrive in a dynamic global market.
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director provides leadership, advising, and coordinating support for the programmatic, training, programs, traditions, and staff development initiatives. The Assistant Directors will lead a team of professional, graduate, and undergraduate student staff in the advising of multiple student led programming boards in promoting tradition, involvement, and engagement through programs that promote campus-wide cultural involvement initiatives and fosters safe, inclusive, and vibrant community fostering engaged citizens who can thrive in a global market. These positions report to the Director of Multicultural Affairs
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide advising and assessment for student program areas within OMA and student led programming boards: including MLK week, Heritage celebrations, International Buddy Program (I-Buddy), Ally and Advocacy Programming. They will also oversee grant funded access programming and management under the supervision of the OMA Director.
Manage approximately 35% of a $750,000.00 overall OMA budget.
Create, develop, and lead a strategic communications and marketing plan for OMA incorporating all efforts from grassroots to social media and has the authority to approve all departmental marketing print and promotions.
Lead the Operations and Logistics Team inclusive of the University Police Department, Physical Plant, Parking and Transportation Services, Alumni Association, Marshall Student Center, Environmental Health and Safety, and other University Partners as it relates to OMA Large scale programming
Create, enhance, and sustain collaborative partnerships with key campus organizations and departments to maximize student co-curricular involvement and success.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution with a minimum of four years related exempt experience, including two years of supervisory experience.
Degree Equivalency Clause: Four years of direct experience for a bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:
The preferred candidate should have a Masters degree in higher education or a related field, 3-5 years of experience in higher Ed with at least 2-3 years of experience in student development, supervision, and advising programming boards. The ideal candidate must have vision, demonstrated leadership, strong organizational skills and experience in the areas of communication (oral and written), cultural competency, supervision, program planning and implementation, student group advising, risk management, assessment and evaluation.
