Role description:
Arcadis is looking for a Senior Water Wastewater Pipeline Design Leader to join our Resilience Water Team in Tampa or Orlando, Florida with 10 or more years' experience in planning, design and/or construction of water wastewater and/or stormwater linear assets. This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated engineer to support one of the best-qualified municipal consulting firms in the country.
As the Senior Pipeline Design Leader, you will utilize your expertise and technical knowledge to successfully lead and manage project delivery and assist with the pursuit of municipal water/wastewater pipeline projects to build and grow our conveyance practice across Florida. The focus of this role is water/wastewater design for linear projects, including pipeline assessment and rehabilitation. This position offers significant growth opportunities for advancement as you manage delivery teams and build strong client relationships.
Role accountabilities:
The Senior Pipeline Design Leader will provide technical leadership and support to our team of highly skilled engineers while executing projects simultaneously and utilizing technical knowledge and experience to develop the team's overall capabilities. In addition to managing project/tasks and clients in the planning, design and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, stormwater systems, and pump/lift stations as well as creating construction documents, specifications, and handling construction oversight/administration for both new construction and for rehabilitation work. Some travel may be required to project site visits, client meetings, team meetings, conferences, etc.
In this role, you will be responsible for managing and leading condition assessment evaluations for water, wastewater, and storm system assets, which includes pipelines and pump/lift stations, utilizing various approaches and technologies. Ensuring the projects meet established budgets and delivery schedules is crucial, while also handling the project/task scope schedule and budget efficiently.
Your duties will involve direct collaboration with clients to identify their needs, offer solutions, and possibly lead teams in crafting compelling proposals and delivering successful presentations. Coordination with other disciplines and the Project/Program Manager is essential to execute project seamlessly.
You will be tasked with preparing comprehensive construction packages, encompassing all deliverables, for the engineering, procurement, and construction of water and wastewater systems for clients. Managing cost estimates, project schedules, and ensuring that design tasks are completed within budget and on time are key aspects of the role.
Furthermore, supervising and providing support to colleagues, mentoring junior-level engineers and design/drafting technical staff, and guaranteeing project compliance with Arcadis practices and quality and safety standards are also part of your responsibilities. Additionally, overseeing and engaging in people management tasks, such as hiring, onboarding, staff development, mentoring, and performance management, is crucial, along with utilizing your people management skills to foster the professional development of staff.

The ideal candidate should possess excellent technical engineering and Project/Task Management skills within the water/wastewater practice area. This includes a strong background in project experience involving the design and construction of water distribution systems, wastewater collection systems, storm water systems, and pump/lift stations. Additionally, experience in pipeline and pump station design projects is highly desirable.
Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for effective collaboration and conveying complex engineering concepts. The candidate should excel in technical writing and demonstrate proficiency in managing the preparation, review, and approval of project drawings, specifications, schedules, and cost estimates.
Moreover, the ability to build and maintain client relationships is crucial, along with experience in preparing and developing proposals and managing client expectations successfully through the delivery of various engineering projects. Proficiency in MS Office applications is required to efficiently carry out the duties associated with this role.

We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $100,000 - 174,000/year. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
