IN225 Emergency Management Intern (Finance)
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Under the general direction of the Director of Airport Operations and Emergency Management, the Emergency Management Intern will assist the Airport Emergency Manager in various preparedness and response activities. This internship will provide valuable hands-on experience in emergency management within an airport setting, including full-scale exercises, tabletops, drills, plan updates and development tasks, and support of Airport Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activations. The ideal candidate will gain introduction and exposure to a variety of emergency management organizations and an in depth understanding of the preparedness and response phases within the emergency management cycle.

COMPENSATION: $20.00/hour
COMMITMENT: Days/Hours flexible based on candidate availability (M-F), through September 30, 2025

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Assist in the development and updating of emergency response plans and procedures.
· Support the Emergency Manager in preparing for full-scale exercises, drills, and tabletops, and other emergency preparedness activities.
· Assist in the analysis and documentation of the airport's emergency management capabilities and gaps.
· Research and compile best practices in emergency management to support planning and training efforts.
· Aid in creating reports, presentations, and other documents related to emergency preparedness and response.
· Provide general administrative support to the Emergency Management Department.
· Collaborate with airport stakeholders, including local emergency response agencies, to ensure integrated preparedness efforts.
· Attend and assist in meetings, training sessions, and workshops as needed.
· Participate in other HCAA activities or assignments as determined necessary by the Airport Operations Emergency Manager.

REQUIRED FOR ALL TPA JOBS
· In the event of an emergency or disaster impacting Tampa International Airport (TPA), employees may be required to respond promptly to duties as assigned by the department or the TPA Emergency Operations Center (EOC). Such assignments may occur before, during, or after the emergency/disaster.
· Complies with all TPA policies, procedures, and standards.
· Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS)
· Currently enrolled or recently completed a Bachelor's or Master's program in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Homeland Security, or a related field. Related certificate programs will also be considered.
· Interest in a career in emergency management.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Familiarity with incident management systems or emergency management software.
· Familiarity with plan development, exercise planning, and/or project management.
· Knowledge of federal, state, and local emergency management regulations and procedures.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
· Strong interest in emergency management and preparedness, particularly in the aviation sector.
· Understanding of emergency management basic principles.
· Ability to think critically and problem solve.
· Motivation to take on new challenges and develop new skills.
· Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to provide clear and concise reports.
· Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
· Ability to adapt to a dynamic, fast-paced work environment.
· Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other relevant software applications.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, airport personnel, and external stakeholders.
· Ability to provide outstanding customer service while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
SHIFT WORK/EMERGENCY DUTIES
· Tampa International Airport is a 24/7/365 team operation. Employees may be required to work extended hours, alternative shifts (including nights, weekends, and holidays), or in response to staffing challenges, weather conditions, or emergency situations.
