Machine Operator I
Job Title: Machine Operator I Shift: 2nd –2:45P-1:15A
Department: Fabrication Position: Hourly
Summary:
Assemble quality tire repairs (patches) from pieces of rubber and fabric by machine and/or by hand.
Education/Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred and a minimum of one-year prior work experience.

Supervision:
Work independently with little supervision.
Other Skills:
Communication Skills/Requirements: Able to read limited number of two-and-three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences. Ability to work in a group setting. Ability to follow and understand simple instructions.
Mathematical Ability: Ability to read a metric scale. Able to add and subtract and do simple division and multiplication. Calculators are available.
Reasoning Ability: Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or-two step instructions. Ability to deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.

Physical Demands:
Activity could be on the job is 1/3 to more than 2/3 of the work day, not limited to standing, walking, sitting, using hands, reaching, climb or balance, talk or listening, taste or smell, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, lifting 10lbs to more than 100lbs
Frequently exerting or lifting up to 55 lbs. daily. Frequently pushing, pulling and or lifting are required. Occasionally climbing, ascending or descending ladders, stairs, using legs, arms, hands and feet. Emphasizing agility of body.
Work Environment:
Most work areas are air conditioned in the summer. All areas are heated in the winter. Environmental descriptions cover a broad range of jobs, some of which may require less than shown below.
Environmental conditions will vary based on assigned tasks and may include 1/3 to more than 2/3 of the work day, working near mechanical parts, work in high or precarious (various), fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, outdoor weather conditions, extreme heat and/or cold, risk of electrical shock, work with explosive(s) materials, risk of radiation, and vibration. There will also be moderate noise levels.
Work Environment: Safety shoes and safety glasses are required.
Generally responsible for the safety and cleanliness own work area.
