Supervisor Maintenance (Finance)

Provides skilled responsible supervision and/or performs the replacement, installation, alteration, adjustment, repair and planned maintenance necessary to maintain reliable and functionally efficient operation of healthcare, academic and complex research facilities.
Position Key Accountabilities:
1. Directs a maintenance team to ensure that work orders are performed consistent with appropriate preparation, processes, codes, regulations, standards, checklists, safety and reporting procedures.
2. Monitors the progress of on-going work and provides accurate and meaningful reports.
3. Stays abreast of details, which may not appear on work orders and maintains good relations with UTHealth departments.
4. Responds to inquiries from various UTHealth departmental personnel regarding work orders in progress and those yet to be initiated.
5. Allocates work to subordinates and communicates priorities.
6. Communicates departmental rules and regulations for conduct, safety, and operation.
7. Verifies vendor proposals and invoices
8. Composes step-by-step instructions for the completion of assignments.
9. Communicates daily status reports.
10. Makes decisions for on-the-job craft related/technical decisions as to the allocation of assignments, procedures, processes and guidelines regarding safety, codes and training/modification/discipline.
11. Submits recommendations for: staffing, material requisitions (including annual inventory), schedules, priorities and changes to policies and procedures.
12. Provides work direction, assistance, and guidance to personnel within the department.
13. Required to carry a university communication device as assigned and respond to calls during normal business hours.
14. This job classification is designated as "essential" at the UT Health Science Center at Houston. In case of an emergency, "essential" positions are those required to sustain clinical services and/or are responsible for the protection of university assets. Personnel in designated "essential" positions are expected to report to their designated work site during their appointed work schedules, even when the institution has been officially declared to be on "restricted access" or "closed" due to adverse conditions.
15. Manages Human Resources activities for direct reports in regards to: recruiting and selection, hiring and termination, training, professional development, mentoring, counseling, performance evaluation, and salary planning.
16. Performs other duties as assigned.
Certification/Skills:
One or more of the following or an additional 5 years of relevant experience:
Minimum Education:
High school degree or equivalent.
Minimum Experience:
Seven (7) years of related experience including five years of supervisory experience. Preferred experience with emphasis in large-scale building maintenance/remodeling.
Physical Requirements:
Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:
Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
