Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I/ll (Finance)
Riverside County TLMA Aviation Department is seeking an Airport and Operations Maintenance Worker I/II to for the Hemet location.
The Airport and Operations Maintenance Worker I/II performs a wide variety of semi-skilled and skilled work in maintenance and construction of airport facilities; performs other related duties as required. Based out of Hemet the position will drive to and from and support both the Hemet-Ryan Airport and French Valley Airport in Murrieta/Temecula. A County vehicle will be provided for travel.
Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I is the entry-level classification may be eligible to promote within one year to the Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker II level after acquiring the necessary experience and training and receiving a satisfactory performance evaluation.
The level at which the position will be filled is at the Department's discretion and is based on candidate qualifications.
Competitive candidates will have experience in general construction, landscaping, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, plumbing, or carpentry. Candidates that have small equipment operation skilled in the use of various hand tools, power tools, and machinery commonly used in maintenance or construction and those with experience in an airport or government setting are highly preferred.

The County of Riverside Transportation & Land Management Agency (TLMA) is the umbrella agency for multiple county departments, as well as a few distinct TLMA divisions/departments. The departments include: the Transportation, Planning, Building and Safety, and Code Enforcement Departments, the Riverside County Airport Land Use Commission (ALUC), the Aviation Division, and TLMA Agency Administration. The portfolio's departments are focused on infrastructure, facilities, and critical services, which are essential to the quality of life, safety, well-being, and public health of Riverside County residents.
Riverside County manages five airports through our Aviation Division: French Valley Airport, Hemet Ryan Airport, Jacqueline Cochran Regional Airport, Blythe Airport and Chiriaco Summit Airport.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
• Maintain and repair buildings and equipment, which includes routine painting, carpentry and electrical work.
• Maintain schematic drawings of improvements.
• Operate heavy equipment to repair asphalt runways, taxiways and parking areas; form, pour and finish concrete for pads and other areas.
• Perform maintenance and repair work including spraying weeds and clearing brush.
• Operate paint striping and traffic marking equipment to distinguish standard airport markings, vehicle parking stalls, curbs, and other various traffic warning and control indications.
• Install, repair or replace runway and other light fixtures; check and maintain power-controlled security gates; repair broken water mains and install pipes and related plumbing work.
• Perform minor repair of mechanical equipment; perform minor welding duties necessary for repairs.
• Respond to aircraft crashes, fires and other emergencies.
• Maintain schematic drawings of improvements.
• May act in a lead capacity over Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I incumbents and temporary employees.

$22.46- $30.45 Hourly
$46,708.00 - $63,337.00 Annually

Experience: Two years of general experience in construction, maintenance or trades work.
Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker II
$25.78 - $33.45 Hourly
$53,612.00 - $69,576.00 Annually
OPTION IExperience: One year as a County of Riverside Airport Operations and Maintenance Worker I or equivalent experience with another organization.
OPTION IIExperience: Three years of general experience in construction, maintenance or trades work.
ALL OPTIONSKnowledge of: Methods, tools and materials used in building and public works trades, including most of the following: electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding, masonry, painting, and equipment operation; safe work practices relating to the proper operation of hand and power tools and heavy equipment.
Ability to:Perform a variety of semi-skilled and heavy manual tasks involving the maintenance and repair of buildings and public works facilities; learn the safe operation of heavy equipment; read and follow written and oral instructions; read, understand and comply with regulations and safety requirements at an airport facility; read plans, specifications and schematics regarding repair and improvement projects; establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Physical Abilities: Prolonged physical exertions handling heavy equipment and tools, including standing, lifting, carrying, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, digging and climbing.
Physical Exposures: Weather extremes (hot/cold) often working outdoor in a load environment.
License: Possession of a valid California Driver's License is required.

DEFERRED COMPENSATION: Voluntary employee contribution with a choice between two 457 deferred compensation plan options.
VACATION ACCRUAL (Bi-Weekly Accrual):

10 or more years = 160 Hours (20 Days)
Maximum Vacation leave accumulation is 480 hours.
SICK LEAVE: Four (4) hours Sick Leave accrual per pay period with unlimited accrual.
HOLIDAYS: Normally 12 paid holidays per year
BEREAVEMENT LEAVE: Allowed 5 days (3 days are County paid; 2 additional days can be taken from accrued Sick Leave balance)
BASIC LIFE INSURANCE: Equal to one times annual base salary not to exceed $50,000 of term life coverage. Premiums are paid by the County. Additional Supplemental Life plan is available for employee purchase.
DISABILITY: Short-term Disability benefit pays up to a maximum of $461.54 weekly, payable up to a maximum of 52 weeks.
POST RETIREMENT MEDICAL CONTRIBUTION: A monthly contribution is made by the County towards retiree health insurance offered through the County as governed by the applicable Memorandum of Understanding.
