Harvest Superintendent (Agriculture)
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily harvest operations to ensure production goals for volume, quality, and cost are met while adhering to production schedules and delivery timelines. Monitor and analyze production data, including scanning make sheets, to ensure yield and efficiency targets are achieved across all shifts. Lead daily supervisor meetings to review production plans, resolve operational challenges, and communicate performance goals. Direct supervisors on production objectives, including volume, food safety, cost, and delivery targets. Collaborate with the Quality Assurance department to maintain the highest standards of product quality and food safety, ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. Handle employee grievances, disputes, or problems efficiently, escalating unresolved matters to Human Resources. Actively participate in group meetings, line meetings, and supervisory meetings, contributing to team development and problem-solving. Train and mentor supervisors to enhance management depth and foster teamwork in achieving department objectives. Conduct daily safety walks to identify and correct any compliance issues, ensuring adherence to all company safety policies and procedures. Foster a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and quality excellence among all team members. Ensure machinery, equipment, and facilities are properly maintained, sanitized, and compliant with safety and operational standards. Maintain positive relationships with regulatory agencies, addressing any USDA or other government-related concerns. Foster strong communication across all levels of the organization to ensure transparency regarding Fabrication floor operations Perform other duties as assigned by the Operations or Plant Manager.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED required; college training in relevant fields preferred but not required. Minimum of 5 years of supervisory experience in a meat processing plant or similar industry. Extensive knowledge of meat products, USDA regulations, food safety, and the production process. Strong problem-solving, leadership, and communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production systems (e.g., Kronos, SAP) preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and regulatory auditors. Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships, fostering a collaborative work environment. Participate in training programs to improve skills. Follow all company policies and procedures.
Functional Requirements:
Ability work in a hot, damp, and noisy environment with exposure to slick floors, knives, hot water, and production machinery. Physical demands include extensive walking, stair climbing, and the ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Flexibility to work extended hours, including Saturdays, as needed.
