As a result, the majority of our staff are hybrid and work both from home and onsite. Our current hybrid approach requires staff to work onsite a minimum of two days each week, every Tuesday and one other day, to be determined by their business unit. Hybrid staff are also welcome to come in additional days each week or may be asked to come in on other days by their manager.

American Experience is an award-winning historical documentary series broadcasting nationally on
PBS and is the longest running and most-watched history series on television. The series brings
together on air and online some of the world's preeminent and most insightful historians, journalists,
authors and witnesses to history. Our goal is to cement American Experience as the go-to source for
great history, great storytelling, and a broader understanding that history belongs to all of us.
Job Overview
American Experience seeks a talented and ambitious candidate to join our team as Outreach &
Engagement Manager, tasked with building on and amplifying our reputation as a go-to source for
great historical documentary. The ideal candidate will possess a deep interest in documentary film,
passion for community building, stellar writing skills, and excellent organizational skills. This position is located in Boston, MA, and requires on-site presence
Reporting to the Director of Audience Development, the Outreach & Engagement Manager will
develop and execute the strategy for American Experience community engagement, leveraging the
series' long form and digital productions to establish and grow relationships with strategic institutional
and community partners, member stations and industry peers. Working closely with the Audience
Development team and its stakeholders, this individual will create and execute outreach and
engagement activities that will increase awareness, consideration, and support of American
Experience and its work. This includes but is not limited to events, film festival appearances,
conferences and station appearances.
The ideal candidate will be highly organized, detail-oriented, intuitive, and a creative problem-solver with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse individuals and organizations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills are essential. The role requires strong initiative, the capacity to work independently, and the ability to meet tight deadlines while achieving goals under pressure.
