The Parts Assistant is responsible for assisting with parts inventory, ordering supplies needed for service, as well as anticipating staff needs. The Parts Assistant is also responsible for assisting members with their immediate needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Lead day-to-day operations of the parts department in the absence of the Parts ManagerOrder, return, receive, and dispatch parts to appropriate departmentSource new suppliers that are cost efficient and high qualityAssist with inventory as per Just in Time (JIT) processEncourage sales and act as liaison with customers where appropriateAssign parts and purchases to the appropriate vessels/ticketsContinuously meets ongoing company goalsAvailable to work overtime when requiredOther duties as assigned by Manager
Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
Follow SHM Safety and Environmental rules and complete required related training.Wear proper personal protective equipment as required for the task or work area.Report all accidents, injuries, spills and near misses immediately.
Technical and Physical Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent preferredPrior marina experience preferredPrevious management experience preferredBasic knowledge of marine systems preferredABYC and/or engine manufacturer certification a plusAbility to sit or stand for long periods of timeAbility to lift 50 pounds
