POSITION SUMMARY:
The Building and Operations Manager for the Patel Center for Global Solutions plays a vital role in overseeing daily operations, security, and facility maintenance, while providing direct support to the Office of the President. This position serves as a primary point of contact for influential stakeholders, ensuring a seamless experience for university leadership, distinguished guests, and external partners.
Key responsibilities include coordinating with university departments to maintain the building's functionality, managing access control systems, and addressing facility-related concerns with efficiency and discretion. This position also leads to the recruitment, training, and supervision of student employees to maintain superior front-desk reception, mail handling, and event logistics support.
As an event liaison, the manager facilitates room reservations, enforces policies, and ensures the successful execution of high-profile events, working closely with internal and external partners. Additionally, this role collaborates with security and emergency services to provide a safe and welcoming environment. Through proactive communication and strategic problem-solving, the Building and Operations Manager enhances operational excellence and strengthens relationships with key stakeholders.

MINIMUM:
The position requires master's degree in an appropriate area of specialization; or a bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience. Directly related career experience may be substituted for the degree requirements on a year for year basis.
FLSB1310 Equivalency:
4 years of directly relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree.
PREFERRED:

Serves as a member of the Office of the President's staff with the role of Building and Operations Manager, responsible for the Patel Center for Global Solutions (CGS), a 74,788 gross-square-foot indoor facility, that houses offices for executive departments, a college, an auditorium, and event spaces. The Manager is responsible for overseeing facility's maintenance, security, and space organization and daily support operations for the Office of the President through clerical duties and office support including purchasing, copier maintenance, break room management, and supplies inventory.
Serves as liaison to Facilities Services, Information Technology, Parking and Transportation Services, and other partners to ensure maintenance of the facility and effectiveness of operations.
Responsibilities include monitoring the lobby and elevators, Building Access Control System, swipe card access, and office keys, as well as general upkeep of the building. Works to identify existing or potential facility problems and coordinates as appropriate with partners to ensure timely response while taking care to minimize interruptions to building occupants.
Responsible for hiring, training, and supervising student employees whose primary responsibilities include staffing the reception desk, overseeing mail delivery operations to/for occupants, supporting events hosting in the building, and other general support to the Office of the President's staff. Works with student employees to ensure common areas are staffed and maintained, as appropriate. Partners with University Police, Parking and Transportation Services, Facilities Services, and others as appropriate for matters of facility operations and security. Collaborates with University Police to identify potential problems in advance for activities and protests, and frequent testing of emergency buttons. Develops on-the-spot contingency plans during high level events. Executes essential procedures and functions in the event of an emergency.
Serves as event liaison for activities in the facility, which may include CGS occupants, other members of the university community, and/or external community as appropriate to the event. Manages reservations of room and activity requests. Develops operational policies and
procedures, in line with university-wide policies and guidance, and monitors activities to ensure compliance. Ensures activities are setup for success and able to be executed properly, and sees activity through until full execution (i.e. cleanup/teardown).
Provides general support for the Office of the President as needed, including working high-profile events such as Commencement, groundbreakings, and other presidential and executive events.
