Sr. Plastics Engineer (Finance)
Position Description:
Sr. Plastics Engineer for Covidien, LP (a Medtronic company) located in North Haven, CT. Responsible for assisting in the development, qualification, launch and commercialization of surgical instruments and devices. Work directly with the design and development engineers in the development of new products by providing design for manufacturing analysis(DFM (Design for Manufacturing) for plastic injection molded components and material recommendations including Material processing within various resin families. Responsible for providing subject matter expertise with respect to Plastic Injection Molding including Plastics manufacturing, Mold Operation, Mold design, Mold Maintenance, Mold Flow Analysis utilizing Autodesk Moldflow Insight, "Hands on" Injection Molding Machine Processing and Troubleshooting of amorphous and semicrystalline thermoplastics including hot runner and valve gate systems. As a part of DFM (Design for Manufacturing) will provide input to drawing specification using Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerance (GD&T) gaging and inspection of production parts. Interface with component suppliers thru project management of supplier deliverables during component qualification. Leverage statistical analysis, including process capability, process control, Design of Experiments (DOE) thru Minitab. Responsible for component part qualification utilizing process development and scientific molding methodology. Create 3D CAD models and assemblies using Creo or SolidWorks. Position works a hybrid model and will be onsite in North Haven, CT - 4 days per week. Relocation assistance is not available. #LI-DNI
Basic Qualifications:
Masters' Degree in Plastics, Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field and 2 years' experience as a Plastics or Molding Engineer or related occupation in plastics engineering.
Must possess at least two (2) years' experience with each of the following: Plastic injection molding including Mold design, Mold Maintenance, Mold Flow Analysis utilizing Autodesk Moldflow Insight, Injection Molding Machine Processing and troubleshooting of amorphous and semicrystalline thermoplastics, including hot runner and valve gate systems; GD&T, gaging and inspection of production parts; Minitab for statistical analysis including process capability, process control, Design of Experiments (DOE); Production component part qualification utilizing process development and scientific molding methodology; Material processing within various resin families; 3d modelling software package including Creo or Solidworks. The following certification is required: Six Sigma Green or Black Belt Certification
Position works a hybrid model and will be onsite in North Haven, CT - 4 days per week.
Salary: $110,000 to $146,400 per year
