Fowl Plant Manager (R&D)
Duties & Responsibilities:
Directs production and ensures cost effectiveness and consistency with prescribed quality, accuracy, and performance standards. Maintains plant property and equipment in good condition to ensure compliance with governmental regulations and to ensure effective and economical operations. Prepares and submits operating reports to management to inform them of the current production status and to make recommendations to improve efficiency and effectiveness. Assures effective customer service and relations through timely delivery of quality products. Selects, trains, develops, and motivates manufacturing staff to maintain plant operations. Assures compliance of all plant operations with company policy and federal, state, and local regulations. May set production and processing goals for plant. Provides guidance to the management team in developing solutions and budgets for improving processes, maintaining facilities and innovative problem solving.
Qualifications (Required/Desired):
Knowledge associated with food safety, animal science, natural science or technical field normally acquired through a bachelors degree or higher. Minimum 5 years of prior industry experience to fully grasp regulatory, production and manufacturing concepts preferred. Experience with FDA and USDA regulated products. SAP experience a plus. Knowledge of budget development and administration, report analysis, USDA and employment law. Broad integrated knowledge of live production and plant operations. Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal, demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels line team members to corporate management.
Physical Requirements:
Combination of Sit, Stand, and Walk. Workable use of both hands and able to grasp. Good eye sight (with or without corrective lens). Able to perform repetitive task. Able to reach, bend, climb, push, pull, and stoup. Able to lift 3 to 50 lbs. in weight.
Environmental Conditions:
Office and plant setting. The plant environment will include wet or humid conditions (non-weather related), extreme cold and heat (non-weather related), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, and chemicals. Processing and outer area environment ranges from dirty to clean, dry to wet and slippery, and hot to cold depending on area of required duties on plant floor and outer areas. Sound will vary. Office area sound level ranges from light to moderate. Processing and outer area sound level ranges from moderate to loud.
