The Off Shift Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and managing the maintenance activities during off shifts (evenings, nights, weekends). This role ensures the smooth operation of all equipment, machinery, and systems, minimizes downtime, and manages troubleshooting and repairs effectively. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to make critical decisions to support continuous production operations.
Responsibilities
Supervise and direct off-shift maintenance personnel, ensuring efficient and effective operations.
Coordinate and manage maintenance activities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive maintenance, to minimize production downtime.
Monitor and track work orders, ensuring completion in a timely manner and according to specifications.
Ensure compliance with safety standards, OSHA regulations, and company policies during maintenance operations.
Act as the point of contact for emergency breakdowns and coordinate rapid response to minimize downtime.
Provide leadership and technical support to maintenance team members, including guidance on complex troubleshooting tasks.
Review and prioritize maintenance requests, ensuring proper allocation of resources and addressing urgent issues promptly.
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, parts inventory, and completed work orders.
Collaborate with day shift supervisors and management to ensure smooth transitions and effective communication between shifts.
Train and develop maintenance staff on equipment, systems, and safety protocols.
Ensure the availability and proper handling of spare parts, tools, and equipment for off-shift operations.
Participate in the analysis of recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence.
Provide feedback and reports on maintenance activities and performance metrics.
Desired Experience
High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in industrial maintenance, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
Familiarity with PLCs, motor controls, and equipment schematics.
Experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex systems.
Ability to lead, motivate, and communicate effectively with a team.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently and make decisions under pressure.
Knowledge of safety standards and regulations (OSHA, NEC, etc.).
Proficiency with CMMS and other maintenance software systems.
Working Conditions:
Must be available to work during off shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Must be able to respond to emergency breakdowns and unplanned outages at all hours.
Occasional lifting and physical activity required.
