Additional Posting Information:
The incumbent will be responsible for performing a wide range of histological techniques, including but not limited to paraffin and frozen tissue processing for light microscopy with routine & special staining, and tissue processing, ultrathin sectioning for electron microscopy. Familiarity with ocular and neuro tissue is preferred. Additional responsibilities include training staff/graduate students in histological and microscopy techniques and overseeing laboratory equipment (tissue processor, cryostat, paraffin workstation, ultra microtomes, light and electron microscopes, and other related equipment.
The incumbent will successfully carry out and maintain QA/QC procedures as well as maintain records pertaining to the laboratory. Other Requirements: The ability to work independently under limited supervision in an organized manner in accordance with established regulations, policies, and procedures. Familiarity with highly complex laboratory equipment and/or computer applications is preferred.
