VIAVI Solutions has a R&D Engineering Technician opening to support research and development in the field of optical coatings using Physical Vapor Deposition (PVD) in Santa Rosa, CA.
Duties & Responsibilities:
The right candidate will have significant experience with optical thin film coating technology.
Activities will include:
- Materials development, process development, and product development
- Work with vacuum-based processes; support metrology of coated product with spectrophotometers, interferometers.
- Glass handling, cleaning and inspection
- Provide support to the coating lab
- Bead blasting
- Clean room housekeeping
- Data collection
- Incumbent will provide “hands on” laboratory support to R&D engineers, keep accurate records of work, perform analysis of data from experiments, and communicate results to the development team
The primary responsibilities for this role include but are not limited to
- Machine operation of the R&D coating platforms
- Data collection and analysis
- Tooling preparation and cleaning
- Machine foils
