Materials Planning Analyst (Administrative)
JOB SUMMARY
Collaborate with the engineering/procurement team during the product design stage to estimate the BOM Cost, fine tune, and report on cost progression as the design matures. Maintains strong relationships both internally and externally to ensure supply of materials meets requirements. Daily activities include scheduling of materials, generating requisitions, collecting, and analyzing costing information, and eliminating parts shortages.
SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES
Review data integrity for the Bill of Materials (BOM), evaluate usage and cost of materials in relation to actual build Works closely with the engineering, the supply chain, and the rest of the planning team during product develop stage to come up with a preliminary BOM cost Undertake detailed and comprehensive analysis on material costs after collecting necessary quotes from buyers and affiliated facilities Make recommendations based on findings and analysis Monitor price variances and update unit cost when required Prepares purchase requisitions based on program requirements and released product BOM Monitors purchased and manufactured parts with the purchasing and manufacturing teams, respectively. Work closely with purchasing to procure delivery of products needed for production, interface with various departments to support manufacturing and on-time delivery Participate in regular planning reviews and prepare shortage report data in line with changes Structures product BOM from released drawings or 3D models Demonstrates professional responsibilities by cooperating with other personnel to achieve department objectives and maintain good employee relations, interdepartmental objectives, and departmental goals and objectives. Work towards and support a culture of continuous improvement and work to make business and department improvements wherever possible Responsible for behaving in a manner consistent with company mission values, code of ethics policies, and other standards of conduct.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS Education, Knowledge, and Experience
Education:
Bachelors degree in engineering, business, or a related field preferred.
Experience:
A minimum of one to two years in planning operations in an aerospace, automotive or manufacturing environment is a plus but not required
Skills:
Proven advanced Excel skills is required: Pivot tables, Vlookup, nested formulas, macros, etc. Software Knowledge: Windows, High proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel). Proficient in blueprint drawing reading. Review of 3D models in Catia or similar software is desired but not necessary. Knowledge of SQL is highly desired but not necessary. Experience or knowledge of statistics, forecasting and management information methods and techniques Have the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment. Maintain focus on priorities with strong attention to detail and accuracy. Good communicator both verbally and in written form
Preferred Skills/Experience:
Basic understanding of MRP or similar systems experience, and knowledge is highly desired. Relevant industry experience or exposure either in material planning, logistics or supply chain ideally in the aerospace, automotive or manufacturing environment is desired. Good knowledge and understanding of a variety of manufacturing and automotive processes and components and good understanding of supply chain management systems is desired but not necessary. Knowledge and experience of using MRP (Material Requirements Planning) systems is desired but not necessary. Knowledge of lean techniques is a plus.
