Job Summary:
We're looking for an experienced manufacturing engineer to monitor the use of equipment and identify opportunities for improvement, in order to increase productivity while maintaining product quality. Responsible for the leadership of continuous improvement engineering within the manufacturing plant.
Essential Position Functions:
• Responsible for designing, implementing and reviewing the procedures and equipment involved in the manufacturing process. Their duties include researching automation techniques, testing new systems for efficiency and planning plant layouts to optimize production.
• Utilize principles of mathematics, science, and engineering to streamline processes. Analyze production processes, schedules, methods and other data and then provide management with reports containing the data and statistics to enable management to better understand future requirements needed for the manufacturing process.
• Create and maintain manufacturing process documentation, including process flow charts, capacity and utilization studies, time and motion studies, standard work, cycle time analysis and line balancing
• Research and test design ideas to determine feasibility, utilizing Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma, and root cause analysis to formulate and support innovation, corrective actions, and continuous improvement activities
• Conducts research and analysis as needed which may include mapping out workflows, identifying opportunities to remove waste or low-value activities, completing other gap analysis and recommending solutions improve manufacturing efficiency.
• Evaluate and explore new and existing processes, equipment, and materials as an input to scheduling methods, performance metrics and financial standards, identifying value-added and non-value-added activities to solve design challenges
• Conceive, design, test, and develop innovative solutions based on analysis and organizational objectives in collaboration and alignment with the General Manager.
• Provides leadership to ensure successful implementation of lean concepts to address workflow inefficiencies or reduce costs.
• Proactively manages change with cross functional teams as a manager and mentor to ensure continuous improvement success.
• Manage Kaizen events, workshops, training/education sharing guidance and technical expertise in various continuous improvement processes.
• Develops and utilizes tools that will maximize the effectiveness of lean and sustain them over time. This includes but is not limited to SPC, lean manufacturing, pass down meetings, and other related continuous improvement tools.

• Ensures processes and practices are in place to identify and share best practices with the plant and across the organization.
• Provides a professional work environment with internal and external customers. Must be able to effectively manage up, down, and across the organization and successfully build collaborative relations across the supply chain.
Education and Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required, Master's degree preferred
• Must have education, training/study/formal certification in continuous improvement discipline and related experience including all aspects of manufacturing process including specialized training in environmental, civil, mechanical or industrial engineering.
• 5+ years' experience in manufacturing experience is required; food industry experience is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Proficient in critical evaluation and analysis of reports, using independent decision making to recommend or take appropriate actions based on information received.
• Proficient at writing reports to synthesize information and to communicate to leaders.
• Ability to motivate and influence floor and staff associates in all activities desired.
• Must be able to speak, listen, and write proficiently to communicate to all levels of organization in all areas of expertise.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 suite of products.
• English/Spanish bilingual is a plus.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions:
• Refrigerated food manufacturing plant.
• The environment may be wet or dry and temperatures may range from 25°F to 110°F.
• Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer required while in the office. Prolonged periods of standing, kneeling, bending, and occasional lifting items in excess of 50 lbs while on manufacturing floor.
• Production demands may require evening or weekend scheduling.
Exempt only: This position is eligible for a bonus based on company goals/performance.
