Director of International Student/ Scholar Services Office (Finance)
1. Directs the activities of staff in fulfilling the university's obligations for compliance with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Department of State, foreign embassies, and foreign banking institutions.
2. Acts as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) and Responsible Officer (RO).
3. Maintains the University's I-17 and other documents required by law.
4. Interprets and advises on complex F and J visa U.S. immigration laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
5. Plans, submits and manages the annual budget.
6. Supervises a staff of professionals who provide counsel and advice to international students, research scholars, and foreign faculty.
7. Personally, handles difficult cases of non-U.S. citizens subject to government regulations and culture shock.
8. Recommends the awarding of scholarships to international students.
9. Administers check-in services and orientation programs for newly arrived international students each semester.
10. Provides a centralized resource center of information on all matters pertaining to international education, international students, research scholars, international alumni and other international information.
11. Coordinates the International Student Advisory Board; serves on UH committees as appointed.
12. Directs international friendship program; administers banquets and other activities; raises funds from corporate sponsors.
13. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
MQ:
Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional disciplines. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related, 4 year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience.
