Starting Salary: $58,000 annually
Overview:
Garden City Healthcare Center, a premier Skilled Nursing Facility in Modesto, California, is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Medical Records Director to oversee and manage the facility's medical records department. The ideal candidate will ensure the accurate and secure maintenance of patient records in compliance with regulatory standards, while supporting the efficient operation of our healthcare services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and maintain the accuracy, confidentiality, and security of all resident medical records.
- Ensure medical records are complete, current, and compliant with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Oversee the electronic health record (EHR) system, including data entry, updates, and audits.
- Coordinate the release of medical information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and facility policies.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure proper documentation and record-keeping practices.
- Prepare for and participate in regulatory inspections and audits related to medical records.
- Train and support staff in medical records procedures and regulatory compliance.
- Maintain retention and destruction schedules for archived records as per legal requirements.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field is preferred.
- Previous experience in medical records management, preferably in a Skilled Nursing Facility or healthcare setting.
- Working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and medical record-keeping practices.
- Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and maintain attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
