Medical Technologist (FT/PT - Nights) (Healthcare)
Obtains blood samples demonstrating adequate skill with less than 10 % unobtainable specimen rate. Can perform venipuncture, heel and finger sticks with minimal trauma to the patient.Completes laboratory test information accurately, recognizes errors, follows up with appropriate corrective action and notifies supervisor or pathologist of difficulties. Does not exceed more than three error corrected reports (ECR) annually.Complies with regulations to meet federal, state, and local accrediting agency requirements. Scores a minimum acceptability (80%) on all assigned proficiency testing. Follows rotation schedule for proficiency testing. Scores minimum of 80% or below on less than three proficiency surveys annually.Observes safety rules and precautions for patients, residents, visitors, medical staff, and fellow employees. Observes universal precautions and uses safety equipment.Supports changes in testing menus and procedures; suggests process improvements. Follows procedures reliably. Uses supplies and equipment in a cost-effective manner.Maintains accurate quality control records. Records all corrective action steps taken in CPSI utilizing the canned comments.Performs all maintenance as assigned and records all issues into each department action log.Recognizes unexpected or abnormal test results and consults with laboratory supervisor, pathologist, or attending physician before release.Performs charging of laboratory procedures in compliance with the hospital wide compliance plan and participates in maintaining corporate compliance.Follows assigned department rotation and completes daily tasks in assigned departments and can plan workload to meet turn-around-times for stats and routine testing. Helps other areas when work is complete.Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
