Reporting to the VP of Engineering, the Design Engineer will be responsible for designing fabricated components and assemblies for Masterack's work van and truck solutions, as well as Contract Manufacturing business. The successful candidate will ensure parts are designed and modeled per requirements. They will also ensure that new and existing fabricated parts are modeled and programmed to run in Masterack's automated equipment. This is a hands on position and we are looking for a self-starter capable of handling multiple projects. The candidate will also possess strong leadership skills including the ability to influence without authority.

Essential Functions:

  • Works cross-functionally to ensure design and functional intent is documented and met. Works closely with operations to ensure the ideal manufacturing process path....
  • Leads internal and external project meetings, captures action items, and sets up a course of action to execute, follows through and tracks their Project Metrics.
  • Responsible for establishing and leading cross-functional team meetings to ensure specifications and requirements are understood and ensure the entire project schedule stays on track. Sets up and conducts internal project meetings to ensure process completion towards the project plan and gate deliverables.
  • Serves as subject matter expert working with Operations, Sales and Client Relations, Marketing, Purchasing and Finance on project deliverables.
  • Serves as technical expert on all Masterack fabricated products and processes.
  • Ability to juggle multiple projects at a time, while maintaining outstanding attention to detail

  • Ability to create and comprehend Bill of Materials, Drawings and Engineering Specifications
  • Hands on and knows their way around a Manufacturing Plant. Previous experience in the Manufacturing environment and a high Engineering technical aptitude.
  • Sheet Metal design and process experience is required, including bending, forming, stamping, cutting and finishing.
  • Automotive experience a plus.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience in Sheet Metal Design & Fabrication & Processes - Laser Cutting, Bending, Stamping, welding, painting & Etc.
  • Profecient with Solidworks, Catia experience is a plus
  • JDE or similar MRP systems - BOM structure is required
  • Project Management experience, leading Cross-functional teams
  • Engineering Tools Experience - DFMEA, GD&T, Tolerance Stack, FEA
  • Project Mangement Tools Experience - MS Project, Stage Gate, APQP
  • Fabricated Part Cost estimating is a plus.
  • PDM experience, including Work Flows is a plus
  • Supply Chain experience including raw materials, components or other related goods

This position is located in Social Circle, GA. Ability to travel as needed to suppliers, industry functions as assigned and Prototype/Pilot support as needed.

Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university is required; an advanced degree is preferred.

Lean Six / Sigma Certifications is a plus
