Buyer (Finance)



Position Summary

AMETEK FMH Aerospace is looking for an adept Buyer to join us in the Flexible Metal Hose (FMH) business unit. This is a Full-Time position. This individual will be responsible for ensuring the continuous supply of assigned direct materials and MRO materials purchasing to maintain the required production levels at optimum cost, consistent with quality and quantity specifications. This position will report to the Supply Chain Manager.

How You Will Do It

  • Creates Purchase Orders for all approved vendors
  • Meets On-Time-Delivery (OTD) and Cost-Savings goals for the business
  • Purchases raw materials and processing per planning specifications to ensure production schedules are met and customer deliveries are on time
  • Frequently interacts and collaborates with other functional areas, i.e., Production Planning, quality and finance to assure metrics are achieved
  • Manages supplier relationships, procures goods and services, including raw materials, tools, parts and supplies to support production schedules
  • Works closely with multiple departments to keep them apprised of delivery schedules, quality of product, defects and corrective actions to support Engineering, Production Scheduling and Sales to advise delivery of material relating to production and on time delivery
  • Implements Supplier-Managed Inventory programs where feasible
  • Conducts material planning and analyzes material requirements to establish an optimal supply of material to support current and future production
  • Negotiates with suppliers on delivery, quality, costs and packaging
  • Secures both short and medium-term commitments
  • Resolves any issues causing non-conformances that lead to parts not being successfully processed into production inventory
  • Maintains accuracy of MRP (purchase order details) to allow for accurate manufacturing planning by Deferring/Canceling/ or Expedite orders when required to ensure on-time shipment and resolve any current or anticipated shortages that may result in line-stoppages
  • Responsible for managing supplier performance of On-Time Delivery and meeting Quality expectations
  • Creating action plans to correct supplier behavior if a supplier is not meeting OTD or quality expectations.
  • Meet or exceed cost reduction initiatives (PPV)

What We Look For

  • Bachelor's degree in business or any related field
  • Minimum three years' experience in procurement and/or planning while working in a manufacturing environment
  • Government and aerospace purchasing preferred
  • Experience in reading blueprints, working with BOM's and familiarity with an MRP system
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes of metals
  • Procurement and negotiation, planning, inventory management and scheduling skills
  • Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: strong communication, interpersonal, & problem-solving skills; self-direction is a must
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • The right person will be ambitious, flexible and want to learn and grow professionally
  • Proficient in: Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and experience with a major ERP system (Oracle or SAP)
  • Candidates must be United States Citizens or Green card holders.
  • Travel: 10% or less
  • Trained in proper RCCA is a plus!

Compensation

Salary Minimum: $70,000

Salary Maximum: $90,000

Incentive: No
