The Principal Continuous Improvement Engineer will work as a Lean Manufacturing change agent, coach, and technical contact on Lean Manufacturing projects. This position will be responsible to lead and execute continuous improvement initiatives across the site and coach continuous improvement practitioners in problem solving. This will require the ability to educate and motivate individuals at various levels of the organization and the ability to manage projects to a successful and timely completion. The position interacts with senior internal personnel on technical matters often requiring cross-functional collaboration.
As the Principal Continuous Improvement Engineer, you will:
• Lead Site wide initiatives in regards to Operational Excellence.
• Hands on execution and project management of Lean transformation projects
• Drive Value Stream adoption of Six Sigma, Lean, and other performance improvement methodologies.
• Deliver DMAIC, Six-Sigma and Lean Manufacturing training & Coaching.
• Assess and evaluate gaps in manufacturing work flows and management systems
• Facilitate Kaizen events across the site.
• Plan, re-design and organize manufacturing, and non-manufacturing facilities and production cells for lean flow.
• Estimate production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
• Capacity modeling
• Technical expert in Lean Manufacturing tools and principles including set-up reduction, standardized work, value stream mapping, pull systems and A3 thinking, has general knowledge of other related disciplines.
• Perform cost/benefit analyses.
Must Have Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree required with 7+ years of experience or Advanced Degree with 5+ years of experience.
Nice to Have:
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, preferably in Industrial Engineering
• Master's Degree
• Green Belt Certification (Internal or ASQ)
• BB/Master Black Belt certification
• Ability to facilitate groups and teams
• Expertise in Lean Manufacturing / Toyota Production System
• Knowledge project management and lean transformations
• Experience with problem solving using analytic s such as DMAIC/A3
• Coaching Experience
• AutoCAD, Visual Basic
• Experience with Danaher Business System
• New Product Introduction experience

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$118,400.00 - $177,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance , Health Savings Account , Healthcare Flexible Spending Account , Life insurance, Long-term disability leave , Dependent daycare spending account , Tuition assistance/reimbursement , and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
