Position Description:
Arcadis is seeking a Project Manager to support capital improvement programs for clients in Southern California. The ideal candidate will have experience managing multidisciplinary project delivery teams and a proven track record in providing planning, design engineering, and design services during construction for water and wastewater programs and projects. In this role, the Project Manager will assist clients with the execution of programs and projects, addressing delivery challenges, overseeing the implementation of program/project delivery procedures, and confirming the performance of the program team against stated objectives. The Project Manager will have regular coordination and interface with clients, providing day-to-day guidance to integrated multi-disciplined teams and preparing and presenting typical program and project management reports related to scheduling, cost controls, cashflow, risk management, change management, document control, interface management, and engineering management.
Role Accountabilities
The Project Manager will also support senior program and project managers in ensuring the completion of conceptual designs, scheduling, and engaging subject matter expert teams for technical studies that support planning and design efforts, regulatory and permitting support, construction management, and operations and maintenance, as well as startup and commissioning. They will assist in developing the overall program strategy, tactics, and procedures, leveraging experience in water or wastewater treatment programs related to planning, condition assessment, rehabilitation, design, construction, and operations. The Project Manager will help address client directives and implement solutions for effective program and project oversight and coordination. They will also provide decision-making support regarding project authorization, relying on strong client listening skills, and will organize and direct internal staff and external subcontractors based on project priorities and contractual obligations.
Additionally, the Project Manager will support with managing program resources, making assignments based on a comprehensive understanding of the work requested by clients, and the skills and capabilities of the Arcadis staff. Organizational skills will be essential, as the candidate will be expected to work on multiple projects and activities simultaneously. Some travel will be required for project site visits and client meetings.
Required Qualifications
To qualify for this role, applicants should have 10 years of experience in the management of water/wastewater projects or programs, with at least 5 years of experience managing teams involved in the planning, design, and/or construction of treatment facilities. A Bachelor's degree in Civil, Environmental, or a related engineering field is required, along with a PE License in California or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of employment. Experience managing large wastewater treatment design projects or programs is essential.
Key Skills and Abilities
Candidates should also have a strong knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, construction principles, techniques, and procedures, as well as an understanding of various design and construction contracting methods. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must, along with a strong technical understanding of water and wastewater utility infrastructure and processes.
Preferred qualifications
Preferred qualifications include PMP/PgMP certification (PMI) and bilingual proficiency in Spanish.

We offer nine paid holidays and 20 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $112,240 - $168,360. Actual salaries will vary and are based on several factors, such as experience, education, budget, internal equity, project and location.
