The purpose of the Real Estate Facilities Paralegal position is to support the attorneys in Publix's Legal Department, specifically in their work with the Real Estate and Facilities Departments. The primary goal is to enable real estate attorneys to focus on negotiations, drafting complex documents, and resolving significant issues. This paralegal role will involve drafting real estate and facilities documents, coordinating matters under Publix's construction lien management program, addressing pass-through expense issues in real estate documents, and providing guidance on estoppel and subordination instruments, as well as stormwater management and other common area maintenance responsibilities outlined in property documents.
What you'll do:
supporting real estate attorneys and paralegals in Publix's Legal Department and real estate associates in Publix's Real Estate Department
drafting and negotiating leases, agreements, contracts, closing documents and other documents needed for real estate transactions
maintaining operating expense pass-throughs under leases and other property documents
coordinating all activities related to Publix's construction lien management program
High School Diploma or its equivalent
Professional experience with real estate contract documents and finance/accounting issues
Intermediate skill level in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel (or related database)
Ability to type 40-50 words per minutes
Interpersonal Skills
Ability to draft and revise documents using approved language
Ability to communicate effectively in both written and verbal format
Ability to deal with highly confidential information
Problem-solving skills
Willingness to negotiate real estate documents
Associate's degree in any field
3 years' experience as a paralegal outside or within Publix, with emphasis on real estate contract documents and finance/accounting issues, or 3 years of comparable experience
Basic skill level in LawTrac, Compass and SAP
Basic skills in Access
Knowledge of Publix's real estate documents
Knowledge of Publix facilities policies and forms
Knowledge of Publix's construction lien management program
Knowledge of real estate and construction law
Knowledge of Publix legal forms and ability to prepare legal documents based on approved terms
Paralegal Certification
