Teacher - Non Public School (Education)
Bachelor's degree and California Special Education Teaching Credential preferred or eligible for short term permit based on California Department of Education requirements.
One year's experience in a classroom setting preferred.
Effective conceptualization and communication skills.
A valid California driver's license is required of staff who have regular driving duties and the driving record must meet the requirements of their position and be approved by the agency's insurance company.
Essential Job Functions:
Physical capability to restrain children, lift over 20 pounds, and engage in physical activities including various sports, sitting, walking, bending, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, etc. Knowledge of teaching techniques and curriculum.
Be able to work in a harmonious manner with subordinates, supervisors, administration and others.
Protect and honor individual integrity through confidentiality.
Ability to work effectively with cultural/ethnic diversity.
Demonstrates reliable and punctual attendance to ensure continuous support and presence for students and staff.
Physical, mental and emotional health adequate to perform job duties.
Responsibilities:
Oversee classroom staff by providing coaching and professional development, performance assessments, and managing the timesheet review and approval processes.
Initiate and facilitate weekly planning and department meetings with co-teachers.
Collaborate with Director of Educational Services in initiating annual calendar for departments.
Develop and implement educational programs, curriculums, and homework assignments, adjusting as needed in coordination with school staff and clinicians to align with treatment plans.
Set up interest centers with the necessary activities/supplies/lesson plans for each child.
Completion of incident reports. To be used in the event of runaways, accidents, containments, or severe property damage.
Responsible for collaborating and coordinating in the development of all programs required reports and required meetings.
Responsible for writing individual educational plan (I.E.P.) for each child, in conjunction with the I.E.P. team.
Responsible for preventing and controlling infection.
Responsible for maintaining a culture of quality and safety.
Effectively use de-escalation skills and techniques for crisis prevention.
Properly administer the C-SSRS to help prevent suicide (not just children).
Effectively use Therapeutic Crisis Intervention techniques for crisis prevention and/or
