Summer Camp Shioc Counselors (Appleton YMCA) (Construction)

The Appleton YMCA is hiring day camp counselors for this summer's Camp Shioc program, held in Shiocton, Wisconsin. Spend your summer outdoors, fishing, boating, playing games, creating art and teaching school age children. As a camp counselor, you will assist other staff members with planning and implementation of activities within a large group setting. Day Camp Counselor (Full-Time): Responsible for the day-to-day operation of all day camp procedures, health and welfare of campers, security, and communication with staff and parents. Responsible for providing leadership for the Day Camp Program in both large and small group activities. This position can expect to work a 8-hour shift between 7:30am-4:30pm.

Day Camp Opener and/or Closer (Part-Time): Responsible for supervising campers while at the Appleton YMCA (before and after busing campers and counselors to and from camp daily). Assist and provide a variety of developmentally appropriate material and activities, which foster social skills and encourages children to think, problem solve, question and experiment. Implements a daily schedule based on developmentally appropriate activities for school aged children and setup and cleanup areas. Expected shifts are from 6:15-8:30am for Openers and 3:30-6:00pm for Closers.

This is a full- or part-time position, with trainings starting in late May and children arriving June 9th, through August 22nd, 2025. Meet at the Appleton Y every morning & ride the bus to Camp Shioc. The day camp crew return downtown around 4pm.

Full-time positions can expect to work an 8-hour shift between 7:30am-4:30pm and part-tine positions working either 6:15-8:30am and/or 3:30-6:00pm.
